In 2016, the GEFA Scholarship was launched by a group of Nigerian-owned nonprofit organizations with a presence in Nigeria, with a massive supports and partners across the United Kingdom, USA, Canada, and Germany. Our mission is to empower individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, equipping them to improve their families, communities, and nation.

We focus on identifying talented students in need and providing them with access to tertiary education. Since the launch on February 16th, 2016, a total of 729 students have benefited from our scholarship program. The statistics details are showed below:
• 2016: 812 applications, 421 shortlisted, 70 awarded
• 2018: 1,218 applications, 619 shortlisted, 130 awarded
• 2020: 1,733 applications, 720 shortlisted, 150 awarded
• 2022: 2,157 applications, 816 shortlisted, 167 awarded
• 2024: 3,219 applications, 976 shortlisted, 212 awarded

As a foundation, the GEFA Scholarship will continue to empowering talented Nigerian students from low-income backgrounds by providing access to quality education. The comprehensive scholarship package includes:
• Full tuition fees
• Accommodation and flight tickets for overseas scholars
• Monthly stipends
• Health insurance
• Mentorship and career development support

Awarded biennially to deserving students, the scholarship provides sustained support from admission to graduation and beyond, including transitional assistance to launch successful careers.
